Taangh

Soon after Partition, newly independent India defeats England to win the hockey Gold at the 1948 London Olympic Games. Six decades later, Nandy Singh of this winning team suffers a stroke. His grit to recover inspires his daughter, Bani Singh, the director of the film, to retrace his life. Her search for him morphs into a quest for the lost ‘watan’(homeland).

The main title of the documentary was one of the important elements to position its story as about homeland & passion. It needed a very emotional connection even to modern India. I hand draw the type and created a texture of chalk which is typically used earlier in hockey games as well as childhood school.
